Acupuncture for Cold and Flu – Recipe for Vegan Cold Buster Tea

Food therapy is an excellent means of boosting one’s immunity.  It’s important to listen to your body and to know when the immune system is under attack.  Start boosting your immune system within the first 24 hours of the onset of symptoms of the cold or flu.  Acupuncture combined with food therapy and supplements can reduce the severity and duration of the symptoms.

Feeling a little run down?  Do you have that little tickle in your throat that could be early warning sign? Here is a great “cold buster” tea that can also be used as a base for other soups:

4 cups organic, low sodium vegetable broth

2 inch segment of raw ginger, cut into several pieces

4 large cloves garlic, crushed

6 scallions, diced – include the white portion down to the root tip

Combined all ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Then cover, reduce heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.  Allow to cool and drink as a tea.

This batch can be reused 2-3 times so that you can enjoy the tea throughout the day.  Upon drinking, it should make you warm and may even induce a sweat.  This is a good sign that it’s doing it’s job!
