In fact, most people have a ton of questions before they receive their first massage therapy session. We’re going to take a look at 7 of the most frequently asked questions about massage.
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
The benefits are endless! Massage can do so much good for your body! Here are just a few of the benefits of receiving massage therapy appointments: pain relief, decreased muscle tension, alleviation of muscle stiffness, increased healing speed and improved athletic performance.
How often should I get a massage?
Each person is different, so it can really depend. But generally, it is advised to get at least one massage therapy appointment a month.
Do you have to remove all of your clothing to get a massage?
No you don’t! Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to remove all your clothing during a massage. Our number one goal is to make sure you are comfortable, and if it is uncomfortable for you to remove all your clothing, you don’t have to do it!
Is massage only for those with chronic pain?
Nope, it isn’t, massage can be used to fix a variety of different issues for a variety of different people. Commonly massage is used to correct chronic pain by way of speeding up the healing process, but massage can also be used to reduce stress, decrease anxiety and promote relaxation, just to name a few.
Can I speak during my massage session?
Of course, if you want to talk we won’t stop you, but generally it is discouraged to talk a lot to focus on your relaxation. But by all means, if something hurts and there is too much pressure, let us know.
When I begin to notice the results?
Again, everyone is different. Sometimes people experience results after one session, and sometimes it takes a few. Everyone’s body reacts in a different way to massage and that is why no one’s results are the same.
Are my muscles going to be sore after?
If you did, it wouldn’t be uncommon. Due to a release of lactic acid stored in your tight muscles, it is possible to feel some soreness. But, even if you do experience this, you are also highly likely to experience higher levels of energy and an increased range of motion following your massage therapy appointment.
